WaveManager

The WaveManager graphical user interface offers comprehensive and interactive control of the various functions of the WaveTest system in order to generate, receive and analyze all types of traffic. It allows the user to control multiple chassis and test ports - providing WLAN mobile-client, as well as Ethernet, traffic generation and analysis - all from a single, easy-to-use dashboard.

Flexibility

WaveManager is designed to provide the user with the utmost flexibility in configuring complex test setups including hundreds of stateful WLAN and Ethernet clients, multiple Access Points (APs) and WLAN switches. Yet, by using the provided pre-defined client, traffic and test setups, initial testing can be accomplished in minutes after the System Under Test (SUT) and the WaveTest have been installed.

The WaveManager usage model is based on defining client, traffic, and results profiles, then binding these profiles to physical test ports and scheduling the test traffic using VeriWave’s traffic scheduler.

Client profiles - Define per client characteristics of mobile and Ethernet clients.

  • Layer 2 parameters - BSSID, addressing, MAC behavior, transmit power, frame error rate, etc.
  • 802.1X and 802.11i authentication and encryption parameters - WEP, EAP/TLS, EAP/TTLS, PEAP/MSCHAP, EAP/FAST, WPA2
  • Layer 3 parameters – IP address, TOS, DiffServ, TCP parameters, rate, frame size, payload, etc.
  • VLAN tags

Traffic profiles:

  • Create traffic flows with different characteristics & behavior
  • Custom protocol, payload, length, traffic rate, priority
  • Each packet in each flow contains a unique signature

Capture profile:

  • User-defined mask/match data patterns - matched to bytes in RX/TX frame payload at a specific offset
  • Test actions can be associated with pattern match:
    • Filtering frames for capture
    • Triggering capture start/stop on a port
    • Count instances of frames & bytes matching pattern
  • Up to 32 individual patterns are available: 16 for transmit traffic, and 16 for receive traffic

Test flow setup:

  • Bind client profile and traffic profile to physical test port
  • Set source to destination flow connection type: 1 to 1, 1 to many, many to 1
  • Bind capture profile to physical test port

Comprehensive analysis of tests

  • Extensive real-time per-port traffic statistics – all layer 2, 3 and 4 frame types
  • Detailed per-flow traffic statistics – bytes / frames transmitted and received, sequence checking
  • TX and RX pattern matcher counters
  • Latency histograms per flow provide information on precise behavior of each client, flow, or traffic type
  • Tabular results are displayed and can be readily exported to any spreadsheet application as CSV files
  • Port statistics are graphically displayed in real time
